A few blog updates from the guys have told us the following:
1) Kevin Kane got a twitter so that we can be filled in with some funny stories he hears throughout the day. His un is: kpkane
2) Tom's message on the what-was-supposed-to-be-EP:
Hey Powerteam,
Many apologies for our recent disappearing act. However, it was not without good reason!
Some of you may be wondering wtf happened to the EP we mentioned would probably be coming out at the end of last month. Well, we did actually record a 4 song EP, and it rocks. In fact, it rocks so much that everyone got way too pumped up and we decided these jams shaant be 'wasted' on an EP. These songs need to be with their friends on something bigger, something longer...like an LP. So that's what we're doing; we're making a full length record. The last months we've been locked away writing and demoing new material in Chicago. We've got about an albums worth of songs already, but we still have to explore thousands of other ideas we've got floating around. We have big plans for this record. No expense will be spared, not stone unturned, no guitar unshredded, no drum unpounded, no bass unplucked, no pick unscraped, viva la revolution! I hope you all like the sound of rock 'n' roll music, because I DO! I DOOO! I DOOOO!
-Tom
3)Tom wanted you, when it was too cold outside, to make your personal rock timeline:
I know news has been slow for these guys but TONIGHT thy will be on DJ Rossstar at 10PM ET, and 7PM PT so check them out at sickam.com/djrossstar
The Academy Is... have released their new single "Winter Passing" and it's available on iTunes NOW!
Some fans were expecting an acoustic guitar version. This is a full arrangement that is different but as lovely as the stripped down version they debuted in Chicago on Nov. 6th at the House of Blues.
Been quiet on the Powerspace front but I've been talking with Kevin Kane and Alec and will hopefully be having an interview with them soon, along with new music to look forward to. I'll definitely keep you guys updated :]
Some suprising news, going out to all fans of Phantom Planet :
"Sadly,
Phantom Planet will be playing our last show, December 12, at the
Troubadour in Los Angeles...We have had an amazing time playing
together for 15 years, but we have
officially decided to go on hiatus, and will not be playing any more
live shows or making any new records, indefinitely" (source: phantomplanet.com)
This
is a big shock and many fans will be struggling with it, but we wish
the guys the best of luck on their new endevours, solo music or
whatever else they choose to do.
More info on this can be found here or on the band's official website.
Hey Everyone,
I'm sure you're wondering what in the world is going on. We put up a new layout and then all other progress on the site stopped. All of the staff has unfortunately been incredibly busy lately, running around to shows and dealing with the necessary evils of everyday life.
But starting Monday, we're going to REALLY be back up and running with all of the promised features and new things on the site. We're going to have a review from our very own Therese who just did a 14-show road trip for the Bill N Trav's Bogus Journey Tour as well as some pictures, and I'll be heading to my own date of the tour tonight so I'll hopefully have my own pictures to bring back.
Sorry for disappearing for so long! And be sure to check back Monday!
